Setting Up Private Practice

Are you a therapist or counsellor wanting to set up a values-driven private practice but don’t know where to start? With so many things to think about and decide, starting a private practice can feel incredibly overwhelming. When I set up my private practice, I couldn’t find all the information I needed in the same place. It took a lot of research and trawling through different books, blogs and facebook groups to find what I needed. So while it’s definitely possible to do it on your own, you don’t have to! I support therapists and counsellors through this process.

My self-paced course launches in July 2025 and talks you through what needs to be done, how to do it and what questions to ask to ensure you’re setting things up from the start to avoid more work in the future.

The course will include modules on:

  • Overcoming initial barriers and mental blocks to setting up

  • What your private practice looks like (things like fees, cancellation policy, niche, ideal schedule and more!)

  • Finance and legal

  • Record keeping

  • Marketing your practice

  • The client’s journey – from initial enquiry to secured client

A workbook will also be available with activities to help you through the setting up process and space for your reflections and ideas. It will also include a draft contract and privacy policy that you can adapt, email templates and a finance spreadsheet.
